Tree Talks & Walks: The Big Picnic at David Lam Park

Taking a clockwise path around David Lam Park, Nina will talk about the history of the park and why it is named for David Lam. She will explain some of the features of the ‘Akebono’ cherry trees and of many of the other planted trees, including dove trees, katsuras, a princess tree, and tuliptrees. There are a number of interesting plaques and points of interest along the way. The walk will take about an hour.

Meet Your Leader

Nina Shoroplova is the author of Legacy of Trees: Purposeful Wandering in Vancouver’s Stanley Park, a naturalist, a Vancouver Cherry Blossom Scout, a Vancouver Master Gardener, a member of  the botany committee of Nature Vancouver, a member of VanDusen Botanical Garden and its book club, and a leader of tree walks for Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival, Nature Vancouver, and Stanley Park Ecology Society.
