‘Snow Goose’. A 1970 Dutch hybrid of Fuji cherry (Prunus incisa) and Japanese hill cherry (P. serrulata varspontanea), the same parents as in the 1928 English hybrid ‘Umineko’. Not as common as ‘Umineko’ on Vancouver streets, but presently more commonly commercially available. The two cultivars (which may not actually be distinguishable) bloom early in April with pure white flowers backed by bright green calyces.
