11:00AM – Opening

11:10AM – Saint James Music Academy Orchestra

Since 2007, the Saint James Music Academy (SJMA) has been providing high quality orchestral and choir based music education to children and youth living in and around Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside in a safe after-school setting. At no cost to families who would not otherwise be able to afford music lessons for their children, young people are strengthened in spirit through the joys and challenges of learning music together, and of playing an important part in something beautiful that is larger than themselves. 11:45AM – Canada Miyake Taiko Kai

Canada Miyake (Taiko) Kai is an official branch of Miyake Jima Geinou Doushi Kai, an organization that is based on promoting and preserving Miyake Taiko – a +200-year traditional taiko drumming. Miyake Taiko is a low-stance form of drumming that has been popularized around the world, largely through KODO’s Miyake performance. Miyake taiko is a powerful and spiritual drumming that is a great workout for the body, mind, and soul.

 

 

12:15PM – Emily M Cheung

Emily M Cheung, a soprano recently returned from six years in Europe, boasts a remarkable career spanning international concert stages and collaborations with renowned conductors like Daniel Reuss and Frans Brüggen. Noteworthy performances include the World Stage Premiere of Otto M. Zykan’s Staatsoperette at the Bregenzer Festspiele in Austria and a solo concert for the Emperor and Empress of Japan. Back in Vancouver, Emily is a staple with the Vancouver Chamber Choir and Vancouver Cantata Singers, while also touring worldwide with Time Ensemble, focusing on community collaborations.

12:45PM – Soaring Stilt Dance

Soaring Stilt Dance , is an awe-inspiring trio residing on the unceded and illegally occupied territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and Musqueam Nation. They aim to defy gravity and elevate entertainment to unparalleled heights! 
 
Through a mesmerizing fusion of soft acrobatics, enchanting dance, and a vibrant celebration of diversity, this dynamic duo is poised to captivate audiences locally and internationally. 
 
With more than over a decade of experience in arts, circus, dance, and theatre performance, Lola Loops Bella Bizarre and are thrilled to collectively invite you into their captivating world.
 

1:15PM – Mudfoot

Mudfoot is a Zimbabwean Marimba duo featuring local percussionists Sangito Bigelow and Chris Couto of Kutapira.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2:15PM – DJ Krista Mac

Krista Mac is a queer, enby and feminist performer who loves to throw it back to classic songs throughout their sets. Based on the west coast in Vancouver, B.C., they have opened for artists such as Cobrah, Manilla Luzon, The Funk Hunters, Whitney Day, Netta, and TT The Artist. With a strong love of dance pop, edm and deep house Krista Mac draws inspiration from large-scale festival performances to keep any crowd moving.
