A lot of people were enjoying Hanami picnic under cherry trees at Queen Elizabeth park in Vancouver today.

Akebono cherry trees are in full bloom.

You’ll find some Akebono trees at the bottom of the parking lot, too.

The Akebono cherry trees at the bottom of the parking lot were popular with photographers.

Along the many Akebono there was one Somei-Yoshino (recognizable by the beautiful trunk, which is not grafted) is the flowering cherry made famous in Japan for cherry blossom vewing (Hanami) festivals, as stated in  Ornamental Cherries in Vancouver, Douglas Justice.

Come visit the cherry trees at Queen Elizabeth Park as soon as possible. The petals are already falling!
